Final Proposal: Part Two
The Use of ITP Lockers In Replicating A Network: Version Two
Design a network, or describe an existing one, which involves
some human input or use. Identify the parameters along which your
network can vary.
Within my last network which attempted to emulate a network system via
the use of the lockers located on the ITP floor. In the creation of
the network, 50% of the packages which were sent through the network
were lost and even a upfront incentive proved to be partially successful so I would like to recreate
this network by adding the following new parameters included into the overall design.
Here are the three different parameters that I would like to implement into order to can increase
the overall speed and efficiency at
which the packages are moved through the network.
A: Increase the number of packages:
Reason: I believe that increasing the number of packages will
increase the probability that more packages will reach their final
destination point. I would like to add three packages instead of one in
each section. I would also like for each packages to follow the rules
set with my first experiment, each packages can only be moved three
node points into any other different colored section.
B: Increase the amount of packages and add one new rule:
Reason: I would like to increase the amount of packages from one to
two as well as add one new rule, which I believe will increase the
probability that more packages will reach their final destination
point. This new rule would allow the transporters to randomly select
any node point which they can place the package on with the only
restriction being that each package must still be moved three node
points.
C: Have two teams formed in order to compete in the movement of
packages from one section to another:
Reason: I believe that the introduction of teams into the overall
network will add both a competitive nature as well a more
concentrated effort by each member into fulfilling their part in
attempting to move packages to their final destination point. One main
concern is the notion of voluntary or involuntary participation but I
am hoping notification of the group teams to the students as well as
the announcement of a grand prize (winning group gets a pizza party),
will act as a incentive....maybe I can do something like first year
against second years..sounds interesting.
