Review of Film Art Phenomena, Interactivity
In reading the interactive chapter in Nicky Hamlyn's book, I have begun to truly understand and respect the ever changing and complex relationship that exist between the artist, the medium he or she creates as well as the audience who will eventually view or interact with it this art form.
While Hamlyn deconstructs the various modes of media such as exhibition, installation and performance, it is the overall creation and fostering of a relationship that exists within the artist and their audience and their overall relationship with the art form that is intriguing to me.
As an artist I attempt to create art forms, which help foster a interactive relationship between my art and the eventual audience. This relationship in which the audience are not just mere observers but rather active participants in helping define it further. Their participation and engagement with any of my art forms will create a type of relationship that will at times differ from the initial intentions of the artist but nonetheless its still fosters the creation of relationship, which is truly crucial in any art form.
The relationship that is fostered and created can only help refine the experience within the art form either through active or inactive participation of the audience. This relationship is truly one of the most important aspects that Hamlyn discussed his Interactive section of his book and I found it to be quite informative and intriguing.
