Emergency Notification Device: The LifeBug

The idea that I presented to class was to build a watch, which will act as an emergency notification system, which can be used by an elderly person to summon help. The watch is to be made out of plastic and colored in very bright color so that it can stand out and be easily found by the elderly person who may suffers from limited visual capabilities. The visual of the watch will be also very easy to read and will contain two options. The first one is 911 and the second is family. The button will be elevated so this will help address the concern about false postives since the customer will need to firmly press down on the emergency button in order to have a alert sent out to either 911 and family members.

I will for this project concentrate on the actual aesthetics of the overall design for the end users and will have some clay models up within the next few days for my first few prototypes. I am also going to buy some wristwatches and disassemble them in order to understand they function as well as a current electronic emergency alarm system.
