Design and Create A Puzzle

This is my first laser cut puzzle map of Africa that I designed out of wood for my puzzle prototype presentation. I was inspired by the fact that not a lot of classmates are aware of where Eritrea is located in Africa and I though this would be a great way to help people understand the geography of Africa.

I took a map of Africa and imported it into Illustrator and then mapped the lines out into two sections, the first in red and the second in green. The first lines, which were drawn in red, were used to tell the laser to cut right through the wood. The second lines in green were used to etch the name of the countries onto the blocks of the wood.

The end result came out very well and I got some great feedback from my classmates and Professor and am already working on the second version of the map.
