Museum of Natural History Exhibit
A Treasure Trove of Childhood Memories At The Museum Of Natural History.
Review written for The New York Times.
Facing the lush open green fields of Central Park, sits one of New York City's most important and popular institutions.
An institution recognized in the world as center for learning and exploration for people for all ages. The MNH is one of the most famous tourist attractions in New York City.
The architecture alone makes the museum stand out from its surrounding neighborhood; it’s a huge, sprawling stone building that reflects an eclectic mix of design styles which was completed
around 1877.
The most important thing to know when planning a visit is that the museum is huge so plan to do a lot of walking and stair climbing. Believe me when I say I walked around for what seemed like
hours and did not want to get up from my char when having lunch at the food court so be prepared.
There are four floors of gallery space and the building is spread over an area of eight city blocks. The museum presents its collection of millions of artifacts with detailed information about
the cultural, scientific, or historical importance of the pieces. It’s quite possible to spend hours just in the Halls for Asian, African & South American Peoples without even realizing how much
time you have spent because it’s just so enjoyable.
Overall it’s a must-see for everyone; no visit to New York would be complete without a trip to the MNH.
